For the time being, I am really passionate about addressing a couple issues that I recognize to be problems within the student community at Roosevelt University. Last Wednesday, I discussed with my group, the issue with the Federal Work-Study program, and Roosevelt's administration's decision to place a cap on it, as well as all other student employment, for the current academic year. Having ties with the Sociological Society at Roosevelt, I also thought it would be neat to help out their campaign for free printing, as this is a fresh project that has room for further development.
My group could draft letters to the president, start a Facebook group, design a brochure that would thoroughly explain the issue, and design t-shirts for students to wear on campus. We could also even design buttons like the ones I've seen for the Pell and MAP Grant advocators on campus. A blog would also be a useful media source to create, to allow campus community members to follow up on the issue and include their input. My group could turn in a few printed blog entries with the included commentary.
